1. No veterinary relationship

Using the calculator, reading a guide or emailing feedback does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship. This project is presented as an independent dog-lover’s educational tool, not as a veterinary clinic or a professional review service. For questions about health, symptoms, medication, diet or treatment, consult a licensed veterinarian who can assess your dog. If your dog may need urgent care, contact a veterinarian or emergency veterinary service rather than relying on this site.

2. What the model can and cannot tell you

The model uses the AKC published age chart for four adult sizes and ages 1–16. Exact birthdays use table values; intermediate ages use our linear interpolation. The method and source are explained on the formula page section. They simplify variation between individuals and are not a universally validated equation.

Age, size and an optional breed suggestion cannot capture an individual dog’s genetics, health history, environment or condition. Two dogs with identical inputs get the same estimate even when their needs differ. Results can differ from other charts without either tool making a basic arithmetic error.

3. Puppies, older dogs and life stages

Values between birthdays are interpolated. A puppy’s development is not linear, and a human-age comparison is not a vaccination, feeding, training or reproductive-health schedule. The source does not cover ages below one or above sixteen, so we provide no human-age estimate outside that range. This coverage limit is not a claim about typical or expected lifespan.

We do not assign clinical life stages from a converted age. Method badges distinguish exact chart entries from interpolated estimates; neither substitutes for an individual assessment.

4. Breed and research comparisons

Breed selection suggests an adult-size category that you can override. It does not apply a separate biological formula for each breed. The optional Labrador DNA-research comparison is a distinct model displayed for ages 1–16; it is not a DNA test, a diagnosis or an endorsement of this calculator by the researchers.

5. Accuracy, dates and third-party material

We aim to keep formulas, examples and charts consistent and welcome corrections. Nevertheless, content may contain errors or become outdated. Values may be rounded, and shared birthday results change as time passes. A displayed update date identifies an editorial revision; it is not a guarantee that every linked source was updated that day.

External websites have their own content and policies. We do not guarantee their availability or accuracy. Report a suspected issue through Contact, including the relevant age, size and result so it can be investigated.

6. Independence and legal rights

The current website has no paid advertising, sponsorship placements or affiliate links. Recommendations about a dog’s care are not sold through this tool. If commercial relationships are introduced, disclosures will identify them where relevant.
